    @ Vince

I can offer a quote for installation but I’ll need a better idea of what the scope of work is. Based on what you have said already it’ll be $20 for installation. Which would involve installing just the Connections plugin and adding a page to host the directory. I’ll need a better idea of what is encompassed in “styling”. If that means create a custom template instead of using one of the ones available on this site, that could be $100 or more. I hope that gives you some idea of costs and helps!

Yes, this is possible. You need at least the Link extension to do this. One thing to note, even though all the extensions for Connections are translation ready, they do not come with any languages other than English so if you want them in your native language, you’ll have to invest the time to translate them.

I hope that answers your question thoroughly!

    @ Claire

Yes, the support license needs to be renewed annually at a 20% discount of the current listed price at the time of renewal. The support license only needs to be renewed to continue to receive updates and support for the items purchased. If you chose not to renew the updates and support will end but the items will continue to function.

I hope that helps clear it up for you. PLease let me know if you have any further questions.

I still need the WordPress admin and FTP login info. Make sure you click the private checkbox before you click the submit button so other can not read the login info.

In your code, change Show All Categories to Select Category.

    That should do the trick.

re: I only bought it just over a year ago and having had the site crash completely when updating before, I left it alone.
Sorry to hear you had trouble upgrading before. I looked thru my emails and I couldn’t find anything from your about it … but such occurrences are very rare. I believe the 0.8.x versions there were a couple issues for users still on really old version of PHP, but those issues have long since been dealt with.

re: Will it be safe to update the core plugin from the WotrdPress plugin updater?
Should be. I am not aware of any major issues, just very minor bugs here and there but there are always bugs in all software.

re: How do I update to the latest versions of CMap and the Form extension?
You can download the updates from your purchase history.

To update, deactivate and delete the older version before installing the update. I suggest updating Connections before any extensions and templates.

After you update, go to the Connections : Settings admin page and input your support license key for cMap and Form. After you do, you will be notified in the WP admin anytime there is an update released and you will be able to use the WP updater to do the update just like other plugins.

re: Will any customisation to the Form fields (mainly text) be retained.
Depends on how you made the changes. If you edited the php files, the changes will be lost. If you used the Say What? plugin to change text, the changes will be safe. You will however have to change the text domain because Form now reuses the code for the metaboxes from Connections rather than duplicate code. This make is easier to maintain and creates less bugs.

re: I want to add Link so that subscribers can edit their entries. Will existing entries automatically be converted to WordPress users?
Connections and Link does not convert entries to WordPress users … it links the two to allow a WordPress user to edit “their” directory entry. The accounts are linked by email address. Once the accounts are linked, the links are persistent so they will remain linked even if the email address in the Connections entry or WordPress user is changed.

Hope that answers your questions thoroughly!

Looking at the page source it seems the decimal separator is a comma. If I change it to a period before showing the map, the map pin shows in the correct location.

This needs to be a period or the query for the address will get truncated to the nearest integer when it is converted to a float for the query.

Can you tell me at what point the lat/lng start using the comma decimal separator?

I’ve read over this a few times, seems very thorough. A couple thoughts.

If the user has access to the “Your Directory Entry” profile admin page and they add their details there, there is no need to logout/login for the link to be added between the WordPress user and the Connections entry. The link will be created when they add their entry.

Similarly, if the Form extension is installed and activated, the user can have the opportunity to add their directory entry on the frontend using Form. This will also immediately link the WordPress user and their Connections entry.

Where this can be tricky … Form can still accept guest submissions which if a user did submit while not logged in, the user would have to login for the WordPress user and Connections entry to be linked. This confusion can be mitigated by disabling the “Submit New Entry” list action and enabling the “Add/Edit My Directory Entry” list action on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Display tab”. The later will only be shown to the user while they are logged in. The link destination will depend if Form is installed or not. If it is not, the link will take the user to the admin “My Directory Entry” profile page. If it is, it will take them to a special page on the frontend where they can add/edit their entry.

    I hope that makes sense!

It might be a bit more difficult, but I do believe I can fix it with access to only the new server. Send me the login details and I’ll try to get this fixed asap.
