When searching by category first and then clicking a letter, the results are filtered by just the character resetting the category, correct?

When search by character and then selecting a category the results are filtered by both correct?

If that is the case, this is known and is how it is designed to work presently. This will likely be change in future updates.

Well, you have several critical errors in your wp-config.php file…

The values you have set for WP_SITEURL and WP_HOME are unsafe and should not end with a trailing slash per the Codex. And even more importantly, I suspect those path are not correct.

Although not a major issue, you then set these constants to '' right afterwards. Since you cannot redefine a constant after it is declared they do not do anything but it will throw PHP notice message in the error log (if configured). You should remove them.

The path you have set for WP_CONTENT_DIR has a trailing slash and should not per the Codex.

Also, the path that is set for WP_CONTENT_URL is suspect. As I said previously, if this path is not correct, Connections will not be able to find the images and set the image path.

Generally, unless you have some very unique WP setup, you are better off not setting the WP_SITEURL, WP_HOME, WP_CONTENT_DIR and WP_CONTENT_URL constants manually. You should let WP configure them.

CRITICAL

Not even sure how your site is working at all because this line is all wrong:
define('ABSPATH', dirname(FILE) . '/');

It should be:
define('ABSPATH', dirname(FILE) . '/');

This can also definitely break the ability for Connections to find the image and properly set the image path.

This is pretty robust and well documented in the code so that should get you going in the right direction.

Nope, not a bug… maybe, I’ll have to think about that.

Like I said each instance of the shortcode is not aware of any other on the page. Connections is primarily designed to be used on the page once. As you would find to be the case for other directory plugins too. I do provide enough configurable options to accomplish this though.

What you need to do is go to the Connections : Settings admin page, click the Display tab and disable the display search message option.

You do not add the shortcode to the page twice, just once with the options set that you want to use. Hope that helps!

The blog categories are not the same the directory categories. Go to your Widgets admin page and add the Connections Categories widget to your sidebar. You need to make sure you have the Widget Pack installed and activated first.

The [connections_form] shortcode has been deprecated and is no longer supported which is why you will not find any documentation about it other than mentions in older forum posts. The reason is it is not longer needed at all.

I see you purchase the Extension Pro Pack. You have everything you need to set it up so Form can be used to edit entries on the front end.

Go to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Display tab.

In the Results List Action section enable the “View My Directory Entry” or “Add My Directory Entry” option. Leave the “Submit New Entry” disabled unless you still want to permit anonymous submissions. However, that could end up being very confusing to you and your users. So I suggest not.

In the Entry Actions section, enable the “Edit Entry” option.

No go to the Connections : Roles admin page and give the users roles that you wish to moderate the Add Entry Moderated and Edit Entry Moderated capabilities.

Lastly go to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Form tab. Configured as desired. This settings page replaced the shortcode which is why it is not needed any more.
