    Yes would need to do something similar to the link you shared but I think I would add it to the card.php file rather than implement a whole new plugin.

    Rather than using the $entry->getCategoryBlock() method you have to work with the $entry->getCategory() method. That’ll return the category data rather display it.

    Then you would do something like this:

    foreach ( $entry->getCategory() as $category ) {
      if ( $category->parent == 2 ){
        array_push( $faculty, $category );
      elseif ( $category->term_id == 11 ) {
        $student = $category;
    }

    foreach ( $faculty as $person ) {
      echo 'Faculty (' . esc_html( $person->name ) . ')';
    }

    if ( isset( $student ) ) {
      echo esc_html( $student->name );
    }

    Hope that get you on your way!

    Great to hear you found a solution that works for you. Using the longer search strings will cause a more exact search methods to be used.

    If you have a moment, I would truly appreciate a review as they really do make a difference. Many thanks in advance!

    That’s a core feature in Connections, just tested it and it is working for me :/ or seems to be … I have about 25K test entries in my db but the data is very messy. The query is be formed correctly, I know that for sure.

    That said… perhaps…

    The table will auto sort by the first column… so, is the first column the name or org?

    Ok, that explains it, the current versions are:

    • Form: 2.2
    • Link: 2.0.3

    The frontend editing was not implemented until 2.0 of this extensions. Go to your purchase history page and download the new versions from the Downloads tab.

    The page that these links and form will show up on will be the same page as your directory.

    re: How do I get ONLY the sub-category of a parent category to display on a specific page. Example: Display only the Bed & Breakfast businesses on their webpage in the STAY section.

    Instead of making STAY, PLAY, DINE, SHOP, SERVICES root parent categories you should make Bed & Breakfast, Cottages, Campgrounds … and so on as root parent categories then you can use the enable_category_by_root_parent and category shortcode option to limit the display like you need. Does that make sense?

    re: How can we differentiate between classes/types of businesses (Member / non-Member) AND affect how they are displayed (Icon / Colour).

    The easiest way and the way I’ve used many times in the past in client work is to simply use CSS. If you look at the page source, each entry has it’s categories set as classes. So all you need to do is create a “Member” category assign your members to that category and then you can use CSS to do pretty much anything you want to highlight them.

    Hope that helps!

    Line 43 should be the correct line to paste the code on to get it to display above the name. Pasting it on that line you would not need the opening and closing php tags though, just this:

    $entry->getCategoryBlock( array( 'separator' => ', ', 'before' => '<span>', 'after' => '</span>' ) );

    Id did forget about the CSS you would need… you need to define the size and line height otherwise it will not show.

    #cn-gridder .cn_category_label,
    #cn-gridder .cn_category {
      line-height: 18px;
      font-size: 16px;
      font-weight: normal;
    }

    Hope that helps.

    To disable the search use the enable_search option. So you shortcode would be:

    [connections id=x enable_category_select='false' enable_search='false']

    The view all link can only be removed in the settings. Go to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Display tab. Scroll down to the Result List Actions section and disable the View All list action.

    That should do it. Hope this helps.
