Go to the Connections : Manage admin page and filter by the Moderate status. Mouseover the entry you want to approve to display the entry actions and click the Approve link. Alternatively, you you can bulk approve entries by clicking the checkbox beside each entry you wish to approve and select Approve from the bulk actions dropdown and click the Apply button.

re: Unfortunately the entry has gone into the Awaiting Moderation queue (good!) but with a status of public (bad!) and is not showing in the Members Directory (confusing!).

Why’s that bad??? It will not show in the directory until, you as the admin, approve the submitted entry. When you approve it, it will already have the visibility status of public so it’ll automatically list in the directory.

A couple years ago submitted entries did default to unlisted but that lead to numerous, and I mean a lot, of support requests asking why they had to change the visibility to public after approving the entry in order to have it display in the directory. Since I made the tweak to default to public, I do not think I’ve received a single email about it until now. The benefit for you, as an admin, makes the process quicker as you only have to approve the entry vs. having to approve it and then change the visibility status. Sorry, but I do not think I will be changing this behavior.

In short, yes this is possible. What you should do, to make this easy is create a new category for each location that you want to create a page for.

Then create the page for each location.

Now add the [connections] shortcode to each page using the category shortcode option. Using this option will limit the category to the one location you specified.

Are you receiving an error when you try to update? If you are, make sure the support license key is activated for it on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Licenses tab.

That depends on where that custom.css file is. If it is in the template’s folder, WordPress will delete it when you install the new version. So you should make a backup of it first. If it is not in the templates folder then it should be fine.

In most cases yes, but… the latest version of cMap has many style options it its Template Customizer. These might override your custom CSS.

Yes, but that does require editing the template’s PHP code. The file you want to edit is the card.php file found in the ../wp-content/plugins/connections-circled/ folder.

The page title can not be removed but the entry name can be removed. You can turn that off on the Connections : Settings admin page under the SEO tab.

Actually everything seems fine. When I logged in, the test entry I submitted the other day was in the moderation queue. I deleted it and tested it again, it too, was routed to the moderation queue. So that looks like it is working like it should.

That said, one minor display error I found was the Dashboard widgets for both “Recently Added” and “Recently Modified” were displaying entries from both the approved and moderation queues instead of displaying the approved entries. I applied a hotfix to your site for those two Dashboard Widgets. They now show only the approved entries. This fix will be included in the not update. Apologies for that!

Back to the issue on hand, I think the confusion is coming from the fact the “Awaiting Moderation” Dashboard widget will only display 10 entries from the moderation queue. To see them all you need to view them on the Connections : Manage admin page — filtered by status. I did make a tweak to this widget. It was sorted to display the oldest first, now it’ll show the newest first.

You did read that in the description… that is only one of the use cases for the shortcode which only applies if you setup your directory to require a login to view. You do not have to do this in order to use the Login extension. The description has not caught up to the latest version yet. I’ll be working on that today. That said, the documentation for Login is up and current.

You would use the Login widget that comes with the Login extension exactly as you are currently using the Sidebar Login widget. The primary difference between the two is it offers tight integration with the latest version of Link, which is the key. When both are installed, the widget will have the option of displaying the edit link automatically. You also have the option of automatically displaying the view/add entry link if the user does not have an entry in Connections. These two links are enabled by simply checking a box in the widget. No code, No shortcode, no complicated setup.

Login is free, install it and give it a try, you’ll find it offers nearly almost all the same features as the Sidebar Login widget plus some features it does not have.

Actually, that makes sense. That is, if the user that is being tested does not have a linked entry. There is not a way for Sidebar Login to know and the snippet I gave will not return anything so Sidebar Login uses the shortcode text as the link.

I actually have a much better solution available now. First, you’ll need the latest version of the Login extension that I released yesterday. You’ll find that it has a widget that you can use they is very similar to the Sidebar Login widget. The primary difference is that the widget in Login is designed with tight integration with Connections and the Link extension.

Now, speaking of the Link extension, make sure you grab the latest version. Earlier today I released version 3.0. This version of Link will add options to the Login widget to display the add/view/edit links. All with simple point and click magic :D

Link 3.0 also introduces two new shortcodes that can be used to add the view/add/edit link anywhere shortcodes are supported. Now, you can not use these shortcode in Sidebar Login because of the way it uses the shortcodes, you’ll just get broken links so I highly recommend using the Login extension instead.

With Link 3.0 you can even add these links to you menu if you wanted, here’s the FAQ.

Now, depending when you receive this there will also e an updated version of the Form extension which has been slighly tweaked to better integrate with Link.

See this FAQ. Foloowing the instructions in this FAQ will allow you to change just about any text and label in Connections including the “Add to Address Book” string.
