    @ Shirley

I suggest looking at the Tina K. entry.

My guess is that the entry which has the image /cn-id-0/photo-short-haircut.jpg is not the Dawn entry. Whichever entry in your directory that is cn-id-0 has that image that is missing. Located that entry and upload a new image. That should resolve it.

The cn-id-0 is the entry slug. The entry slugs can be found on the Connections : Manage admin page after you click the View Details action link. It’ll be to the far right.

    Hope this helps!

The results are not listed in the order the entries were added… they are actually order based on how the database decide to weight the search results.

re: I can’t guarantee everyone will have a WP user account. … is there a way (a plugin perhaps) everyone can have their own password rather than one password for everyone?

Everyone having their own password is exactly what the WP user accounts are for. What we did for my church is we imported every one and then gave everyone their username and password. At that point the user can choose via the WP user profile to change their user password or simple continue to use the one they were supplied.

Hope this helps, let me know.

The only “out of box” solution I can think of is to put all this info in the Bio field of the Individual entry. This will work with all templates including the free ones which come with Connections.

The other solution would require custom development which would add a bunch of custom fields which would fit your specific requirements.

    Hope this helps!

    re: I create a password-protected page

That password protected page is a WP feature, not Connections. After you input the password a cookie is saved on your computer which WP reads and knows you’ve already logged in which is why you do not need to enter the password again. I think the cookie does not expire for 24 hours which mean you would not need to login until after a full day has passed.

Connections has its own require login setting which you can enable. This will require that the visitor to have a WP user account to login to view the directory unlike the WP password protected page which only requires the user know the password.

    Hope this helps!

    @ Bob

Follow only Example 4 in the tutorial. This is what your CSV file should look like:

    Name, Slug, Parent
    Fruit, fruit,
    Meat, meat,
    Apple, apple, Fruit|fruit
    Orange, orange, Fruit|fruit
    Beef, beef, Meat|meat
    Chicken, chicken, Meat|meat

    This would import like this:

    • Fruit
      • Apple
      • Orange
    • Meat
      • Beef
      • Chicken

    Hope this helps!

My suggestion… Since the core Connections plugin is free to download and use, install it can give it a go. follow the steps in the quick start and you’ll be up and running in no time.

As for addons, after you’ve used Connections for a little and are comfortable with it, based on what you’ve said, you only need the CSV Import extension. I would also recommend the cMap template. It is the most popular and it has support for the Template Customizer which gives you point and click configuration of its many options.

    Hope this helps!

re: the results are no longer limited to category 144 (the Golden location) – the category restriction in the shortcode seems to be ignored.

Which is not being limited? The actual entries of the category results?

I did look at the page but it seems you decided to go a different route. If you could setup a page showing the issue I’ll take a look. You can create a new page and just not put it in your sites nav and give me a direct link.
