Sorry, no, Connections does not use the WP Users for its directory entries. I believe it is better for monetization to use a membership plugin like Restrict Content Pro for monetization where having the ability to be listed in the directory is only one benefit of the membership vs the being the only benefit. For user / directory entry management there is the Link extension which will link a WP user to a Connections entry so the WP user can manage their own entry. Upon registration, however, their entry is not automatically added, the user must choose to add their entry.

Hope my answer makes sense and helps!

Since Business Directory plugin has a CSV export option, you could use the Connections CSV Import extension to import into Connections. If you purchase the CSV Import, I can send you an advanced copy which has beta support for importing an entry logo and/org photo from a URL.

Hope I have answered your question, let me know.

The code snippet you pasted above is either from a fairly old copy of Connections or it was changed… if you are using any recent (last few years [I think]) version of Connections you can use the method outlined in this tutorial on how to change strings in Connections.

The exact original string would be Photo of %s the %s is the placeholder where the entry name will be placed.

Hope this helps, let me know.

I would suggest deactivating and deleting Connections and reinstall it. Seems to me that not all files were moved. Doing this is safe and you will not loose your data. Let me know how it goes.

Odd. Looking at the page source… the page seems to be crashing right as Slider Revolution is starting to write its stuff to the page. My first guess is to temporarily deactivate it to see if that solves the issue. If it does, it would seem that they are calling one of the core WP functions for output buffering that should be run on the core WP shutdown hook. Let me know what you learn.

RE: What I really want is to search through all departments even though that department is filtered and displayed. I know some one can select “all categories” and then do the a search but we want a full search no matter what category is selected.

See this post to another who wished to do the same. The instructions should still be valid.

RE: Would something like your example at https://sscit.org/ help?

No, keyword search handled in the exact same way.

RE: If so, can I get the beta to try?

    Would you like it regardless?

RE: on further inspection, this does not work. When i used ?cn-cat-in it does not include sub-categories.

Right, works just like core WP does for posts… this will filter entries that are in both categories. It will not traverse the descendants.

RE: on further inspection, this does not work. When i used ?cn-cat-in it does not include sub-categories.

How so? I visited the site… the permalinks for the individual categories are displaying entries in that category. Ohh… I’m guessing you still want a way to enforce the category=144 when clicking a permalink. I really do not see a way for that to ever work… a permalink is the canonical link to a category or an entry making it subject to two more more other categories will that. This is why the queries exist. This is modelled very heavily on how WP itself works with categories.

I suppose you might be able to try using one of the filters, like city. The category permalink/shortcode option does not override one of these filters allowing a category to be filtered.

    Hope this helps!

Navigate to the Connections : Tools admin page and click the Export tab. YOu have various export tool options. For newsletters, you could use the email export or the all export and then use your favorite spreadsheet program to filter the results to suit.

    Hope this helps!

huh… how about that! That must have been broken for a really long time and you’re the first to notice or at least the first to take time to report it.

I’ve found and corrected the issue. The fix will be included in the next update. Apologies for the trouble!
