The developer modded the search so I not going to be able to offer much in assistance because I can not know the full extent of the changes made.

One error I can see is that they named the select input for the Country drop down as country. For it to properly function, to filter by country, the drop down needs to be named cn-country. Then there should not be a need to further refine the search by having the user choose a region (state/province). It’ll be optional.

It is not possible to group the results by category. The Custom Category Order extension allows you to define the order of how the categories are listed. For example when displayed in the category drop down. It does not affect the order in which the entries themselves are displayed.

You can affect the order of the entries with the Custom Entry Order extension, here the link to the docs on how to set the entry order. This is field is found on the admin page when editing an entry.

My suggestion… edit each founder and give them an order of 1. Then edit each EO and give them an order of 2. That will give you the result you are looking to achieve.

The issue is that you are displaying 100’s of entries on a single page. This is not a bug or Connections limitation. The same page load time (likely much worse) would occur if you tried to load 100’s of WordPress posts on the same page.

The solution is any of the premium templates as they all support paginating the directory. For you vendor directory I highly recommend the cMap template.

If it requires a login to view, it will not get indexed by Google.

That is optional. You can require a login or not. The setting is found on the Connections : Settings admin page under the General tab.

Could you explain what you mean by this? You have both the Custom Entry Order and the Custom Category Order extensions. There is nothing that needs to be configured with the shortcode. So I am a little confused. A little more detail will help. Thanks!

I’m not 100% certain what you are asking for, but, I think what you are looking to do is list the entries in the directory in a specific order. You would use the Custom Entry Order extension to accomplish this.

I think you are trying to do this using the Custom Category Order extension which will not work because it only orders the list of categories, it does not change the order of the entries. It’s not possible to display entries grouped by a category in a specific order.

Hmmm… that’s unfortunate. I guess I can take a blind stab. The next update, which I’ll try to push out next week will contain a tweak which I think will resolve the issue. It’ll be version 8.6.12. After you update, let me know if it fixed the issue or not.

The only way to make this change with Excerpt Plus would be to edit the PHP file for the template. Is this something you feel comfortable doing?

All the premium template include the ability to filter by category and search. Template which display contact info would be cMap, Market and Tile Plus.

There’s no reason for them to stop working. My first suggestion is to make sure that the Code Snippets plugin is active. And then, double check that each individual snippet is active. The last time an issue like this was reported it ended up being that the individual Code Snippets were no longer active.

Yes, that will work just fine. After you do, make sure to activate your licenses for each item. After you do, you will be able to update in the admin like the free plugins from wp.org.

I think these will be lost … sort of. If you do lose any. They will still exist in Say What? If you find one or more do not work any more. Edit it in Say What change the text domain from connections_form to connections or vice versa.
