Oh yes, that would do it. Plugins such as those override the core WP mail function and implement their own. At least they have the option to disable. This is resolved now, correct?

The wp admin is the wp admin, that is what you’ll be using regardless of the web host or the caching plugin I just recommended.

I also recommend WP Rocket, it works well with SiteGround offering a significant decrease in page load time. My experience has been that it just works and works reliably. My personal experience with both W3TC and WP Super Cache was that both neither just worked or were reliable. YMMV

I do have some hands on experience with SiteGround’s GoGeek WordPress hosting package:

I was quite impressed with the site performance and how responsive their support was. I’ve had since moved to one of their cloud hosting business packages:

One of the features that I like is the ability to choose the PHP version to run. On my live site I have it set to a very recent version. And on my test site I can instantly switch between really old versions to new versions independent of my live site. This is quite handy in testing Connections.
