The best way to handle this which will require a bit more up front work but will be update safe is to add your own metabox for phone numbers à la the “Education Levels” extension and then unregister the core phone numbers metabox so you only have one with your modifications. And most of the work is simply copy/pasting.

I would copy the entire code for the phone numbers metabox:

Make your changes and register it using the same array attributes:

To unregister the core phone number field, this should work:

cnMetaboxAPI::remove( 'metabox-phone' );

You can hook into the cn_metabox hook to make this happen:

add_action( 'cn_metabox', array( 'cnEntryMetabox', 'init' ), 10 );

Step by step:

1. Hook a new function to the cn_metabox hook.
2. The function should unregister the metabox-phone metabox.
3. Set up an array with the exact same attributes.
4. Register your custom phone metabox.

The FULLTEXT notices are nothing to be concerned about. You are seeing these because the table engine does not support FULLTEXT search queries. In instances like this Connections will fallback to a more simple, though less accurate, search method.

You are receiving this error from WordPress because it seems the **GD image processing library is not installed and is required. Older versions of Connections utilized third party image libraries rather than the core functions provided by more recent versions of WordPress so there was not a way to report this before.

The solution is to request that your host install this very common (nearly always installed by default) image processing library.

WordPress will function without this library… sort of. It will not be able to scale and crop images in order to create the thumbnails of images and such. Instead what it does is use the full size image and force it to use browser scaling which is bad for your page load time, bandwidth usage and image SEO.

The Pie Register plugin is calling a core WordPress action, wp_login on login which Link hooks into but it is not passing both of the required parameters so when other plugin such as Link hook into it, it will fail with errors. That is a bug with Pie register.

In short, yes it would be possible… but not as simple as adding a few lines of code

You can try using the Better Admin Pointers plugin. Contrary to its name, you can add pointers to frontend pages. I have never used it but I see no reason why it would not work.

Alternatively you can add the following CSS to the theme’s custom CSS are to hide them:

#cn-form div.link-assignment,
#cn-form span.target,
#cn-form span.follow {
  display: none;
}

It appears that you duplicated the cMap template to create your own derivative rather than creating the template override files. Nothing wrong with that method really…

Looking that the page source, your version of cMap seems to be in this folder:
../wp-content/plugins/cmap-directory/

While the original cMap template is in this folder:
../wp-content/plugins/connections-cmap/
