    @ Bob

Just following up to see if you were able to get Connections installed.

Ok, you have the CSV Import extension installed, according to the screenshot …

The CSV Import is a addon to the free Connections plugin. You need both installed. Exactly like those two WooCommerce addons need WooCommerce to be installed to work.

The instructions are in the link in my last reply, here they are again slightly rephrased:

    1. Navigate the Add New section of the Plugins menu in the admin sidebar.
    2. Once there, search for Connections. Connections Business Directory will show up first in the results.
    3. click the Install Now button.
    4. Now click the Activate button

Hope this helps! Let me know.

Yes, use Loco Translate to translate Connections Business Directory.

    Sure, I can help!

The first thing you must do is install the free base/core Connections plugin. Here’s the link on how to install Connections.

After you do that, the error will go away and you’ll see the Connections logo in the left side admin bar.

Hope this helps! Let me know.

RE: Please show me how to enable the discount

    • Navigate to your purchase history page.
    • Click the Licenses tab.
    • Click the renew license link for the Pro Pack.
    • Complete the purchase on the checkout page.

After you renew, you can opt to upgrade the license to a multiple site license. The process is very similar.

Navigate back to the Licenses and now click the View Upgrades link (only available after you renew).

Here you can choose which multiple site license option you want. Click the Upgrade Licenses link. This page will show you the upgrade fee. It is discounted from the full price by either the renewal fee you just paid for the Pro Pack or it might be discounted by the full price of the Pro Pack. I can not recall off the top of my head how the cart processes the discount after a renewal. The discount will be either 59.99 or 79.99 off the full price off the multiple site license option you chose.

Hope this is clear and makes sense!

RE: I’m translating directly in Loco Translate, but my form is still in English even in the Chinese version, if I save my translations and sync, shouldn’t I see the changes already? I translated all of the first row from Prefix to Suffix and in between.

Which plugin did you translate the strings? You should start with the Connections Business Directory plugin. Most strings in Form will be pulled from it and not Form.

RE: Where do I send you the PO/MO files to review?

If you login (use the username/password you used when purchasing Form), you will be able to attach the PO file. Do not attach the Mo file. Also, rename the .po to .txt otherwise the form might reject it.

RE: Even if you use the shortcode [connections_form] for both the English and Chinese language pages, it will automatically use the translations for the form?

I don’t see why not. Other plugins switch there language too if the language is switched by the switcher, correct? Assuming the other plugins have a T. Chinese translation.

RE: how do I apply the PO/MO, do I have to send you the translated PO/MO files in order to see the updates?

Well,if you use the Loco Translate plugin, you simply search for and translate the strings you need right in the WP admin. It takes care of creating and placing the files in the correct location. However, you should send me the PO files (not the MO). That way I can include them in updates so you do not lose your work.

RE: after I add Chinese translations, will I be able to have BOTH English form visible for English detected language and Chinese translated form show when detected language is Chinese?

It should be, there is nothing special about Connections or its addons in this regard. There are coded to be translation ready … so, if the translation switcher switches the language, it should switch just like any other plugin that is also coded to be translation ready.

You do not need to do all the work to even test this … translate the strings found in the Name metabox. And then test your switcher.

The only thing I can think you might have to investigate is … I do not know how Polylang (or similar) translate category names. You may have to reach out to their support team. If Connections needs a tweak, then that can be done. I’ll just need to know what tweak, if needed, will need done. But, I imagine all fields names and labels will just work.

Connections and its addons are translation ready like most other plugins.

There are no Chinese translations available for Connections or Form, so, for them to show in Chinese, the translations need to be created.

I would suggest focusing on the strings that display on the page. Otherwise it would be daunting task. You can use Loco Translate (or POEdit) to search for those particular and translate them. You will only see English until you do.

    @ Roland

Apologies for my delay in reply!

RE: I would like to understand how to make a website directory entirely out of the Connections Plugin, so even the site pages are generated dynamically from Connections rather than from WordPress, – I know this is possible, and I would prefer to do it myself rather than uses a consultant.

I suppose this could be possible but Connections is really designed to be embedded on a page. So, you would need at least one. Probably the one that you would set as your static homepage in the WP settings. You could use the shortcode or the new WP5 editor block.

On the Connections Settings admin page under the Advanced tab you could enable all the permalink options. In combination with the Enhanced Categories extension and the cMap template (with its category dropdown filter displabled)

With that, I guess the entire site would be Connections powered. It really depends on what the envisioned goal is.

Doing this what just using the Connections codebase is probably feasible too. I guess it really depends on the desired end goal.

In regards to documentation, depending on when you last looked, there is a lot more of it. But, it is primarily focused around using Connections and its addons, not the code. The code itself is documented inline using phpDoc. I guess that is what you mean by the Linux man pages.

RE: I would like to have one single upgrade price for the full suite, for multiple sites. – you can see my purchase history and let me know which will be best for me.

I see you’ve purchased the Pro Pack, you can renew it for a discounted price if $59.99.

Not sure how helpful this is, but I do hope it is!
