Sorry, but it is not possible to sort entries by street name.

Are you perhaps using page caching and have it set to cached pages for logged in users? If you have page caching, try temporarily disabling it to see if that resolves the issue. If it does not, I can take a look but I’ll need a temp admin login. The details can be posted here as a private reply.

RE: Is it possible to have a button next to each directory entry which website visitors can tick if they want to contact a particular entry via a contact form.
Technically, yes, it is possible but there is nothing available that put an button on an entry “out of the box”, so to speak. We have the Contact extension which does add a contact form to the entry profile/detail page which a user can use to email the entry, but there is no button to link directly to the form on that page for the entry. Hope that make sense.
RE: I would also like the option to have one button which would contact all directory entries in a particular category – sending the same contact form.
The Contact extension only supports emailing the current entry the user is visiting on your site. Each entry gets its own form, well, it is the same form, it is just smart enough to know who to email by knowing what the current entry the user is viewing.
There is no built in method to do bulk emailing by category. The business directory data can be easily exported and then imported into a mail service like Mailchimp to process bulk mailings.
I hope I have answered you questions thoroughly. Let me know.

To do this, you’ll need the Form extension and the Link extension. Form however, has its own dedicated page within Connections on the directory page, not a separate page. There are a few ways in which you can add direct links to the Form page which is what many do when they create a “members” page.
Hope this helps, let me know.

The issue sounds like there is bad/open tags in the HTML of the bio field in the entry prior to the entries exhibiting the issue. I suggest checking those entries bio fields. If they look good… I’ll need a link to the page so I can see, a screenshot will not help me identify and offer a solution. If the page requires a login, you can leave a login here as a private reply. I suggest a temp account which can be deleted afterwards.

RE: Thus the entry visibility overrides the visibility of data fields, at least for Birthdays set to “Private”. So what then is the use of setting visibility at the level of any field if [Upcoming_list] will override it?
The upcoming list only purpose is to display the anniversary or birthday. The visibility of other fields will have no effect because they are not displayed because they do not exist in the template which displays the entry. So those fields will not be overridden.
The feature of displaying the public and private upcoming anniversaries and birthdays was designed and coded to deliver what was being requested by users at the time. This is the reason is why it only the first name is displayed by default. The users that requested the upcoming list and its features were other church leaders looking to put their directory online.
RE: What will happen for birthdays set as “Unlisted”? Will the entry level visibility override that as well?
Yes, anniversaries and birthdays set as unlisted will be displayed.
RE: [uocoming_list] seems to also override the visibility set in user roles tab, for I have also required users to be logged in at the Contributor level or higher to see “Public” data.
Yes, correct, the code does not take the user role into account when displaying the anniversaries or birthdays in the upcoming list.
RE: Please make this “feature” part of your documentation
Yes, this should definitely be in the docs. I’ll add it today.
….
I wrote the above long reply then it occurred to me that those that requested the upcoming list, that was quite a long time ago perhaps I change the its functionality or add a new shortcode and leave the other intact and replace the documentation for the old with the new.
Would you be will to test the change if I make it?

Can you share a link to the actual page so I can take a look?
The category description can be turned off on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Display tab.
The page title can be turned off on the Connections : Settings admin page under the SEO tab.

Yes, there is… I see you’ve purchased the Widget Pack. It has a search widget that can be placed into the theme’s sidebar. Alternatively, all the premium templates include search to which the Search widget is compatible with.
I hope I have thoroughly answered your question. Let me know.

Connections does not use a custom post type (CPT) for performance and scalability reasons. The database schema is designed to be optimized for directory info. CPT use the same tables as WP uses for posts/pages and are optimized for that type of content. This allows me to do things with Connections which would be very difficult and inefficient to do with CPT’s.
Sorry, but here is not a way to commingle core WP post search results with the directory search results.
