Yes, they are compatible.

I am a little confused. That response seems like it is generated from the Category Import tool. What did you export and by which tool, exactly?

You can use the Form extension to allow your site visitors to submit admin moderated entries to your directory. However, if you intent is to allow those who submit an entry to also maintain it, you will need the Link extension. And those users will need to be a registered WP user. It is how that user is authenticated before being permitted to make changes to their entry.

So, it is the entry’s logo? When you edit the entry in the admin on the source site, is the image you want to move in either the photo or logo fields?

How did you migrate the data from the source site to the destination site. I need those details in order to give you directions. Depending on the method, it could be as simple as copying the images folder from the source site to the destination site.

Sorry, no, you can not group entries by category. However, there are other ways to order the directory by using the order_by shortcode option

RE: the current replacement site directory was imported from the active site. The hyperlinks for the images obviously dont match so I was wondering if there was an easy way in connections to update all the hyperlinks for the image locations?

Images added to the bio and/or notes fields? Or, the photo and logo image fields?

There are two directories which are the “same” but out of “sync” (for the lack of better terms). Is that a correct interpretation of the question. If it is, if you export the current directory into the out of date directory the result will be “duplicates” of all the entries which exist in both directories. Or worse, if you map the Entry ID column of exported file, you would update that Entry ID on import instead, but the ID of the entries will not be the same between the two directory instances. So the result would be updating an entry with another entry’s info.

So, I guess the short answer is it might be best to first delete the existing entries before you import.

Yes, it is possible and has been lightly tested. I know there are users who maintain their directory exclusively using this method. There is on issue to be aware of. Say an entry has two “Cell Phone” numbers added. Only the first will be exported, so, when you import, you would lose the second. Same if an entry has two work addresses. It is the same for all the repeatable fields where the “type” can be set. Different types will export just fine. As an example, a home phone and a cell phone number added to an entry would export because they are of different types and when you import, they would import just fine.

Well, that depends on the WP role you assign the users. I would suggest assigning them the Subscriber role. This role, unless altered, only has access to their profile admin Profile page where they can change their email address and password. With Link, they will also have access the their Connections Profile admin page very similar to the WP User profile page but it allows them to edit only their entry.

The image (whether it is a logo or photo) is reserved for the Links that can be assigned to an entry. When you add a Link you can assign it to either the logo or photo.

One way you could accomplish this would be to add a link to the entry with that link being the link to itself and then assign that to the image. Not elegant at all but does work.

Another way would be to edit the template code and wrap the image in the within the entry’s permalink.
