ParticipantWell it sounds like the end result will be a nice enhancement, so I don’t think it will be a problem hanging on for the new changes awhile. I may very be the only person that ever used the extra views…who knows!

ParticipantSteven,
Thanks for the response.
Well I do have a valid API key with a payment method on file with Google for just this purpose. Is this change universal for all of your users or can I as a single user be placed back on the Google Maps provider?
Or is that what you intend for the further update?

ParticipantJust letting you know an update Steven.
I pulled the trigger and moved the site to SiteGround hosting. That in itself went pretty smoothly, I am glad to report. So then I got my courage up and hit “update now” for Connections, and the update completed successfully in about 8 seconds…. UN-FREAKING real…. Never saw that kind of response from GoDaddy, pretty much all updates had resulted in the timeout errors, on most all apps.
I think I completed another 5 updates in less than a minute. WOW…
Thanks for the advice Steven, that move was the best thing that I ever did.

ParticipantOK, I gotcha. Obviously I am not overly experienced with this stuff.

ParticipantI believe I am using the WordPress wp-admin program? Does that sound right?
Matt Magill
ParticipantThanks MUCH. I really need a dependable host, and your Connections Plugin is a core component on our site that generates about 20% of our traffic.
I appreciate the advice Steven.

ParticipantHere’s another interesting tidbit: I just tried to update Jetpack and it has done the same exact thing, and says the plugin file does not exist and deactivated it….. This is crazy.

ParticipantI think I need to move away from GoDaddy… Would you have a recommendation on a reliable hosting company for a WordPress site that uses the more up to date PHP etc.?

ParticipantOK, well this went bad….
I deactivated the plugin, which returned an error saying “deactivation failed, too much time without a response” or along that line.
Upon refresh however, it shows the plugin as deactivated. I then selected “delete plugin” which also took a long time, and eventually returned an error saying it “could not completely uninstall plugin”.
Reload page again to see if it is actually gone, and it is, in fact gone from the list. On now to installing plugin again, and it took forever… and then a page appears saying the “website is unable to process this request at this time”. And stayed that way for over 30 minutes. Dead site, error 500.
I have since restored yesterday’s backup, but I am not feeling very confident about going through this again for the same result.
Your input?
Thanks–
