Thanks Steven. As always you are very responsive and helpful. Just a note, on a multisite install you need to change the values via phpMyAdmin in wp_options under siteurl and home. Also you needed to change it in wp_sitemeta under siteurl to https.

Yes it used to be fine. I don’t believe we have done anything major to the site. We have updated plugins but I am not quite sure when it broke. Since it just took the images away from the directory, I only noticed that it was broken when trying to add new images to the directory. Is there anything I can check? We do have forced SSL on the whole site.

Also I am looking for a way for categories to be search via the search. I have chosen not to show all of my catgories, but I would like for a search to bring up results for a category which is tied to my departmental and hierarchical structure.
