Market has received a significant update to take full advantage of all the newer features built into Connections.
Important
If you are upgrading from an older version of Market you must go to the Connections : Templates admin page and delete the older version before installing the new version.
To install the new version, please install it as you would any plugin, please do not use the template installer found on the Connections : Templates admin page. The template installer will only remain in place until all templates have been updated to use the new templating system. After which it will be removed completely.
After you install Market , as a plugin, activate it as a plugin.
Finally, after Market has been activated, it will show up on the Connections : Templates admin page and be available for use.
I am going to buy Market 3.0 for a non-profit organization I’m with and building a website for. I saw the option at checkout and I’m just cuious how one might go about getting a discount code if available? Thanks!
@ Mark
Sorry, but currently there are no coupon codes available.
Hi… Quick question. How do you show just the business card and not the category list?
Thanks
@ rick1045
Add enable_category_select=FALSE to the shortcode. That will disable the category sidebar.
Thanks Steven. This is really a nice plugin!
Is there a way to exclude multiple categories?
@ rick1045
Sorry, no. However, depending on your needs … you could only include the root parent categories of the categories you want to display. See this FAQ. It’s for cMap, but it’ll work for Market too.
Ok, great. I purchased one license of Market. Can I use that on another site I own or do I need to buy a new one?
@ rick1045
Support is limited to a single site, however, you can install on multiple sites if you wish. Thanks for asking!
Hi – I just purchased Market and downloaded the zip file. The folder doe not contain a zip file for me to upload as a plug in. I’m stumped. Help?
@ Julie
I just triple checked the zip file in your Purchase History, it seems fine. Can you redownload?
Additionally, if I currently have entries using another template, and I select the new template for use – will data transfer or do I need to manually reenter?
Thank you!
Julie
@ Julie
Think of templates for Connections as theme for WordPress … they display the data you’ve entered. So no, you will not have to re-entered anything. You can switch templates as oftern as you wish. I hope that helps.
Got it – and I finally got it installed. The only glitch I’ve got now is that the “display bio” link won’t display the bio. Any suggestions?
@ Julie
It sounds like a fatal javascript error is occurring in another plugin or theme. Can you please share a link to your directory so I can take a look?
Hi Steven, Sorry for the bonehead reply – how do I share a link to the directory?
@ Julie
Just type the full address that you would type in the browser address bar in the comment reply box.

I just visited the site, the bio links open the bio content tray just fine for me. Are you still experiencing and issue? If you are can you try force refreshing the browser or visit your site using a private browser window?
Hi Steven, Yes – I’m still experiencing the issue. Perhaps I should try a different template. I need a template that will allow for searching by category as well as I would like the bio to display without having to click to show. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Julie
@ Julie
I just tried again on your site with Chrome, Firefox and IE8. In all instances it is working for me. I suspect it is working fine for others too. Do you have another computer to try from?
OK – all is working properly. Is there a way to keep the bio visible, rather than clicking on a link to display?
Thanks!
Julie
@ Julie
Sorry, no, that is the way that feature in the template is designed. You would have to make custom code adjustments to the template to do that.
FYI, the bio/notes links are not working now for me in any browser. Have you enabled other plugins since I’ve looked the other day. I asked because something is now loading an old version of jQuery rather than the current version that is bundled with WordPress. This is generally considered bad practice for plugin and themes to do this. It seems to be also causing issues for CommentLuv and maybe another plugin. My suggestion is to find the offending plugin and not use it if you can. Another option is I’ve built in a method that can attempt to force the usage of the bundled version. Go to the Connections : Settings admin page and enable the jQuery option under the Advanced tab.
