Hello,
I am using connections 7.1.5 and Bio Entry Card 1.0 template. I’d like to use this cMap version because of the search option but I have a doubt. I saw that cMap requires connection >= 7.2.3. These updates can delete my current data?
@carlos
No, the updates will not delete the current data. It’s highly recommended that you update. Make sure you are running at least WP 3.2.
Steve, we’re impressed with your plugin and have purchased cmap, CSV importer and the email modules as well. I’d like to have some custom work done on this if you’re available. The dropdown category selector as shown in your image above, our category structure is going to be too big to realistically put all into one dropdown selector. We’d like to split it up and use multiple selectors utilizing Ajax functionality where they select the primary category (which will be states) then the sub-cats would be selected from the 2nd selector (which would populate after choosing the primary category).
1) Can this be done? 2) Can/will you do it? 3) We’re ready to pay for the work so please advise. Thank you!
@Simco
I’m sure it would be possible. Not sure how to accomplish it off the top of my head. I’d like to do it, but I do not have any available capacity to take on additional projects, sorry.
I love the Cmap template.
Is there someway disable certain elements showing within an entry
Eg I have a two pages setup with connections one using Cmap template as a “business directory” set to show list_type=’organization’ therefore within those displayed listings I only want visible work address, work phone number, work email etc.
as I then have another page setup as a personal directory using Bio entry card set to show list_type=’individual’ therefor I only want home address, home phone number, home email etc to show in these.
I dont want to have to make two entries.. one as an organization and one as an individual if it can be avoided.
Thanks
Bronwyn
@Bronwyn
The cMap template has nearly 60 customizable options. Check out the ‘Customization’ tab on the product page. Unfortunately, it is not as fine grained control as you need as in limiting the work and home numbers based on list type.
Hi Steven :-)
even if unable to limit the displayed phone numbers based on list type,
Is there some way I could achieve this by commenting out something within that particular template?
I’m using a different template for each list so if I were to comment out something in the Cmap template eg home numbers from displaying (very limited knowledge here) I’m assuming it shouldnt affect stuff then displayed by the other template and vice versa?
I had hoped to easily achieve it with a bit of CSS and display:none however the classes dont seem to allow for it..unless I was to go and maybe edit the classes… which is a thought.
@Bronwyn
Well, one of the many enhancements in 0.7.2.x versions of Connections is an option can be set to retrieve specific types of addresses and phone numbers. I haven’t exposed this ability to a template because I debated its usefulness. I need to address a couple of very minor bugs this weekend in both cMap and Market, maybe I will bill able to squeeze in those options.
Completely personal opinion here however I do think having that finer control over types of info displayed (eg work info as opposed to home info)
would definitely be useful and an enhancement.
Having said that, it would be useful if able to do this say via shortcodes so that say in my instance where using different lists for different purposes on the same site, the settings wouldnt take effect globally but only to a particular instance/displayed list.
Excellent plugin, was so glad I found it. Has made a project I was working on and dreading soooo much easier and the client loves it too!
@Bronwyn
I’m sitting down to work on updates tomorrow. I’ll see if I can add this since it shouldn’t be too much trouble.
@Bronwyn
Good news, I’ve added the following options to both the cMap and Market templates:
address_types
phone_types
email_types
Now you can tell the template which data types to display.
The valid options for each are as follows:
address_types = home, work, school, other
phone_types = homephone, homefax, workphone, workfax, cellphone
email_types = personal, work
You can also assign multiple types, simply separate by them using a comma.
Hi there Steven,
sorry for the belated reply.
Thank you so much for adding that and very much appreciated!
Cheers
Bronwyn :-))
