I use Relevanssi on one of my sites. I set the minimum at 4 characters. I searched on the front end for the word ‘spa’ = no results. I changed the minimum character count to 3, hit the reindex button, searched ‘spa’ again = about 10 results. Some results were not really applicable to the search term, but many were.

    Hope this helps.

Greek is such a beautiful language… LOL.

Of what I understood, I looked in phpMyAdmin, and the wp_connections Table Options are already set as MyISAM.

The ‘Fulltext returns none’ (no results) I referenced above was returning nothing with using 3 letter search terms (e.g. ‘spa’). Set as Fulltext does return good data when used with search terms 4 letters and above.

There is nothing else I should need to do for the db tables is there?

    using wp 4.0b2, connections 0.8.14

    Thx.

As usual, the way I have things set up makes that not work either. (My problem, not yours). If I change the home_id parameter, it makes it where individual permalinks are wonky.

I’m doing a lot of pushing a string here. My set-up is weird, so I will just “display: none” the clear search button and add a manually created button with my link.

Thanks for trying to help on this.

Looking forward to your Widget Pack update… nudge, nudge. :)

    Have a good one.

OK, I thought it was something coded in the plugin. I know that Relevanssi had a setting to change character count for what it would index. Different duck, I know, but I just wasn’t sure.

FWIW, ‘Fulltext’ only returns none. ‘Keyword’ only and Both return anything with those letters… e.g. ‘spa’ also returns StorageSpace. Oh well.

We’ll just educate users on the way search works.

Thanks as always for great, timely support.

Use case? Funny you ask… I’ve been struggling to document exactly what I am aiming for. It’s a really easy sentence in my head, but to explain it in writing is taking paragraphs. :)

So not to clog the forum up (and maybe look silly in the process) :) I will drop you an email later with what I am trying to do, and you can point me in a “best practices” direction.

Thanks for taking a look at it. Have a great day.

wow. this one has me batty. I:

    deleted all plugin filters
removed connx plugin groups from PO
    removed plugin custom sort PO
    reset to default load order
Basically, this ‘should’ have reset it to default…

    Then I:
    deleted cmap 3.1
    added cmap 4.0

Still, no cmap in templates options. I also tried to place template=’cmap’ in shortcode, no bueno.

But I can see cmap plugin in ftp.

So I completely deleted PO, reinstalled, and now it seems to work. Go figure.

I tenuously move forward… I’ll let you know if something changes.

Thanks for taking a look at it. Have a great day.

I agree on wp 4.0, I can’t imagine why it would have mattered, but at first, it was all I could come up with. The one site has 3.9.1 and updated cmap fine.

I have deactivated all of the other plugins, deactivated and reactivated cmap and cleared my cache. Here’s what happens:

There seems to be a conflict with Plugin Organizer (which is a great plugin, btw). If I have them both active, no cmap template, if I then deactivate PO, still no template, but if I then deactivate cmap, and then reactivate cmap, the template appears. If I then activate the cmap template as ‘current’ in Connx settings, once I reactivate PO, the cmap template disappears from connx/settings.

None of these conflicts existed with wp 3.9.1 / Connections 0.8.13 and cmap 3.1. Once I updated both wp AND cmap to 4.0, the fun began.

I downgraded the offending site to have cmap 3.1 again, still with wp 4.0 and PO activated, and everything works fine.

cmap 4.0 and Plugin Organizer do not seem to be playing nice together…

I could have totally missed something else though, please let me know if you need me to try and break anything.

Excellent. Always nice to get a fresh look on a room.

WRT code, yeah, would hate to see something become *more* db intensive, so anything you can do to include the features without killing the experience is great.

Any feel on the timeline? (nothing written in blood, just curious). :)

    Thanks.

    Hey Steve,

Hope you had a great 4th.

It’s been a couple months since I inquired, so I thought I’d touch base on this and see if there was any roadmap for the widget pack ‘refresh’ and adding the features that we discussed in the thread.

Thanks and have a great week.

Thanks for the consideration. For anyone thinking about it, Widget Pack is a great value.

While you’re in Widget Pack, what would be really nice would be making the ‘categories’ widget be able to select/deselect specifically which categories to display for each instance and whether or not to show the (#) of listings in each category?

    Just some thoughts.

    Thanks
