I have not heard of this error before today… A quick Google search reveals this as the top result:

I would suggest the following checks:

• How do I check for a theme conflict?
• How do I check for a plugin conflict?

Also try customizing the template using Chrome, but before you do, hit the F12 key and then click the console tab. Watch for any other errors in the Console. They can be helpful in tracking down issues.
