The images are dynamically scaled and cropped as well as responsive. What you’ll see depends on what your image settings are and which template you are using. What I need to know is:

• Which template?
• What are your image settings?
• Need samples of the original images uploaded.
• Can you share a link the directory?

My suggestions are:

• Put the images settings back to their defaults found on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Images tab.
• If you are are using any image related shortcode options for the templates, remove them.

For the most uses the image defaults and the template defaults for images are the best choice for presentation.
