An image … or all images? If it was a single image … its seems Duplicator missed it somehow or maybe got corrupt during the archiving from the source site or corrupted when being restored to the destination site.

If all image were missing then Duplicator did not archive the ../wp_content/connection_images/ folder from the source site. I would imagine it would archive the entire wp-content folder. I have no personal experience with that plugin but I would be surprised if it did not.
