It is a new installation on a multi site installation. VPS running Apache. The Cmap was installed successfully previously on a test site and worked ok. It ran on PHP 5.3. I have trued a different solution and it is working without issue so we will stick with that, although I personally preferred your offering so will try it again on my own sites if I dont get the image directory issue anyway.
