any way, what I can tell is that theme is improperly loading the wrong version of jQuery. This can cause issues with many plugins, not just Connections. Try this. Go to the Connections : Settings admin page and check the jQuery option under the Advanced tab. This attempts to correctly load the correct version of jQuery that is bundled with WordPress.
