The first question…

Did you put the Connections shortcode on the page? Take a look at Step 4 in the QuickStart.

To change the labels, you have a couple options.
One, you could try the suggestion posted by this user.

Another option could be the Say What plugin. I can’t vouch for it because I haven’t tried it for myself yet. But I think it should work.
