re: Is there a file where the data is stored on my old site that I can simply upload to the new site?
Sorry, no, the data is stored in the database just like all the WordPress posts and pages. Storing it in a file would be very, very, inefficient.
Installed All-in-one WP migration on my test site in order to verify that the data was being exported… but, they unfortunately use a proprietary export format which is impossible to decompress outside of their plugin.
Since I am unable to verify their functionality, I’m going to have to recommend that you use the Duplicator plugin instead to migrate your site since I know for a fact that it does properly support exporting custom WordPress tables and properly imports them. I still recommend ensuring the FULLTEXT option is off during migration in case the destination version of database is older than then the source.
If you need to use All-in-one WP migration, I’m sorry, but you’ll have to reach out to their support to ask why it is not properly migrating the data. I prefer to assist you to get this resolved but since I am unable to verify that the data is being exported there is not much I can do for you. Id do find it odd that the data is not being migrated because custom tables in WordPress is a fairly common thing in WordPress plugin. Meaning a great deal many plugins use them, many far more popular than Connections. So it is almost certain that All-in-one WP migration processes them. And there is nothing really special about the tables Connections uses that would cause issues.
I just reread your original post, since the categories are migrated, are you certain, the entries are not there? Perhaps the list is filtered so no results are displayed? Could you please give me a temp WP admin and I’ll take a quick look. Details can be posted here as a private reply.
