Ok, I am beginning to understand the question… no search features have been removed. I just tested this on my dev site.

Filter by Country.
Then searched by category.
And finally searched for a keyword.

Perhaps if you give me access to the page, I can see what the issue might be. Please make sure that you are displaying the search result message found on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Display tab.
