Actually, that is not entirely ood… you as a user on a host can set the max memory limit for PHP to anything you want and PHP will happily report that user set limit. But, a web host can set a “hard limit” so no matter what you set the limit to the server will actually limit you to host’s setting. My limited experience, generally, a host will not share what the actual “hard limit” is but most of the hosts that I have hosted with seemed to support a hard limit of 128MB to 256MB.
