There is only one way I can think of dealing with this…

Disable the Login Required option on the Connections : Settings admin page.

Edit the member directory page, set the Visibility status of the page to Private in the Publish metabox. That way, only logged in users can view the page.

Just make sure that your private entries in Connections are set to private so only logged in user can view those.

With this setup, you’ll have to provide you users with another method for logging since they will not be able to get to the member directory page until they are logged in. Maybe add a login widget to the theme’s side bar would be a decent solution.
