re: Is there somewhere you are supposed to enter the license key?
Yes. Go to the Connections : Settings admin page, click the Licenses tab and enter the support license key there.
re: I signed in my site URL, but it is not “activated” yet; How long should that take?
Not sure what you mean by; “I signed in my site URL“, but when you enter your support license key, activation is immediate, no wait time.
re: I cannot seem to upload images. Wondering if it is due to the above (not yet activated??)
No, the support license key activation does not in any way limit the functionality of the templates or extension. The only, but important difference, is only site with an active support license key will be notified of and have the option to apply the updates within the Wp admin.
re: It says error code 500 – fileserver error.
Is your installation of WordPress configured as a multi site installation? If it is, then the error is a bug with Connections 8.1.1. That bug is fixed and that fix will be part of the 8.1.2 bugfix release going out today. If you are no using WordPress in a multi site setup … I’ll need a temp admin account and FTP account so I can log in to see why you would receive this error.
re: The other is that there’s somethinhg wrong the the .htaccess file.
What .htaccess file??? Connections only make a single file in this folder:
../wp-content/plugins/connections/vendor/timthumb/ It does not create any other or alter any other existing files. Out of curiosity what changes did you make?
re: is a multi-site installation
Of this is a multi site installation … then the upload bug should be fix in the forthcoming 8.1.2 bugfix release today.
Hope that helps!
