Unless misunderstanding you… I think you might be confused on what the list_type option does.

The list_type equals the entry type. So if you set the list_type to individuals, it will only render the entries entered into Connections as Individuals. Likewise for the Organization and Family entry types.

You very likely better using the method I gave the link to which uses categories to create separate directories.
