Here is the process:
1. They click a payment option (links to paypal)
2. After payment they receive a registration link
3. They click on the registration link to complete the user creation process.
4. They log into the site
5. They click on the Add Entry link (only visible to logged in users)
6. They add their entry, but aren’t linked to it.

I hear you about the different use cases. Hopefully the next big release will make it easier.
