You can use the Say What? plugin to customize the labels and other text in Connections or any other plugin which is translation ready.

To change Home Phone to Cottage Phone you would add a new text change with the following settings:

Original string: Home Phone
Text domain: connections
Text context:
Replacement string: Cottage Phone

What spelling and capitalization… it matters, and, if not correct, the replacement will not work.
