The plugin was able to be in the plugins folder, not activated. The issue was your server was exhausting the memory allocated to PHP. It was only 40MB. The solution was to increase this limit. I set it to 128MB and now Connections activated just fine. This really was not a bug in Connections activating other plugins too. It would just have been a matter of having the “right” mix to meet and exceed that limit.
