For the category filter you will need one of the premium templates:
RE: when I add an images to the first entry in the add entry section the image appears there. When I add it to the second entry, the image in the first entry disappears. The entries show up correctly on the page and look good the first time the page is loaded, but they disappear on re-load.
I do not think this is an issue with Connections… it sounds as if another plugin or theme is interacting with images on the page causing them not to appear.
If you can share a link to the page with the issue and confirm which entries do have an image, I can take a look.
