If you edited the cmap.php file, there’s not much that can be done to prevent an update to cMap from overwriting your changes. If you changes where limited to the CSS/JS and card.php and card-single.php then, here’s some docs I have written up that explain where to put the files:

The short version… put the altered files in this folder:

../wp-content/uploads/connections-templates/cmap/

Connections will load these before/instead of the core cMap files. The exception is the core ‘cmap.php` file.
