The only way I see this is to export the existing directory to a CSV file so it can be imported into Connections using the CSV Import extension.

ps. Connections does not use a CTP rather it uses a custom table for a couple reasons. Connections predates CPT support in WP and the CPT db schema is optimized for, well, posts. The table schema for Connections is more optimized for directory listings.
