re: Frankly, none of the above works.
Lots of people use these methods. They do work.
If you are copy/pasting the examples from the web page into the WP Visual tab on the post editor, that is going to cause you trouble. That’s not a Connections issue, it is just the way it works. Either manually type the options or paste them while in the Text tab on the post editor.
Switch the post editor to the Text tab and remove any HTML that is inside the shortcode.
I mention this, because looking at your page again … it looks like the shortcode options are broke due to HTML being pasted in. This breaks the WordPress Shortcode processing. Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do about it. The same goes for all other plugins when working with their shortcodes. I say this because instead of an email label is see, str_work_email=.
If you didn’t copy paste, then there must be a typo. If you reply back with the exact shortcode as you have as it is now and I’ll correct it for you.
re: our example looks nothing like the current plugin, there is an extra field to populate the you don’t discuss.
The additional field in Say What?, that’s new. Just leave it blank.
re: It would be so much easier if you had a 5th choice for all these labels – NONE!
You said you wanted to remove Work from the labels, you didn’t say you want to remove the labels. It is an important distinction. to remove the labels, use this shortcode:
[connections addr_format="%line1% %line2% %line3% %city%, %state% %zipcode% %country%" phone_format="%number%" email_format="%address%" link_format="%title%"]
re: I’m really finding that this plugin is not as easy as you have described it to be. Very frustrated.
Just about all of it is plug and play … all options are optional. The advanced shortcode options are there for those that want to tweak. They are not necessary to be used at all. Better to have the advanced options than, not, yes?
Question for you, a new template launched the other day, Gridder. I tried something different with its doc page. Do you find its doc page easier to understand?
