That is because they Chosen devs changed their HTML markup between versions. You’ll likely have to replace the Chosen files in the /connections/assets/js and /connections/assets/css/ with those from /the-events-calendar/vendor/chosen/public/.
I just updated the dev version with the latest version of Chosen; 1.1.0, and everything seems to be fine.
