The only time the image will “deform” is if you have the image crop setting to none. The image will be scaled to fit both of the entered dimensions. Choosing crop will scale the image to the shortest dimension of the uploaded image and then crop off the excess image in the largest dimension in order to meet the entered dimensions while maintaining the image ratio. I believe you want to choose the fill option. That will scale the largest dimension of the uploaded image to fit the entered dimensions and then fill in with white the shortest dimension of the uploaded image to meet the entered dimensions while maintaining the image ratio. This will guarantee the entire image is shown and in proportion.
