Hmmm… new installation, VPS and MS…

I suspect that none of the Connection tables were created upon activation. YOu can verify this by exploring your database. You should many tables that start with {wpdb-prefix}_connections. If those table do not exist, try deactivating and activating Connections again/ On MS installation, do not activate network wide. Activate only on the child sites where you plan to use Connections. If after doing this and no tables are created then I suspect the database user created for the for WP install does not have the create table privileges.
