The link option on the image is reserved for being assigned when added a link to the entry. This could be changed by editing the template’s PHP file. Do so, would break that feature.

RE: Is it also possible to have a ‘can’t find what you’re looking for?’ form at the end of every directory search result, whether there are organisations found or not?

If you are using Contact Form 7 for this, you could put the [contact-form-7 id="1234" title="Contact form 1"] shortcode with after the [connections] shortcode on the page.
