Assuming the template was upgraded from version 2.1 to the recently released version 2.2 … there should be no functionality changes other than the addition of added support for maps. Actually looking thru the code changes for the previous versions further back, I do not see anything at first glance that would change this.

The only thing I can think of is that the link=true shortcode option was removed which enabled this feature. Here’s the link to the doc page which explains how to enable this display mode.
