Well, the info is not hidden in any way… It sounds like the newsletter plugin simply pulls recents posts. Connections does not use posts, it uses custom tables for performance and scalability reasons. Many plugins use custom post types, storing data which was not really well suited to be stored as a post, now, many of the larger/popular plugins are going thru major migration efforts to port that data from custom post types to custom tables due to the negative performance impact it has caused them.
That said, if the newsletter plugin has a location which allows you to put in a message or something, you could copy/paste the info from the Connections Dashboard admin page before sending out the newsletter.
