Connections is tested on PHP5.2.x and greater. So is cMap. PHP 5.6 is faster and more resource efficient. So, that could account for it. If you host has the option to run PHP7.1. I recommend switching to it as it is far faster and more resource efficient. Not all plugins will work and fail to run. You’ll notice immediately if that is the case. WP actually even recommends PHP7.
