You can not do an exact search for “CA” because the database will drop it as being too short. This is not a bug or limitation in Connections. Generally the search term must be 3 or 4 characters minimum. The exact number depends on the database configuration setup by the webhost. Instead you are likely getting results for only terms that start with “CA”.
To tailor search results, navigate to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Search tab. Disable any fields that are not really relevant for you needs. Limiting search fields to relevant fields will increase the possibility of more relevant results.
While on the settings page, disable the Keyword search option, leaving the FULLTEXT option enabled. Now, do a test search. If you do not receive any results the database does not support FULLTEXT search, enable the Keyword search. If you do receive results, you can leave it disabled because the database does support FULLTEXT which is more accurate/relevant.
