MitchFunny, I didn’t have the Widgets 2.1 on my Live site, and thought, hey this will do it. But it’s never that easy. :)
I created a special category (83) that when included would place a listing in the widget. And when combined with the category id (52, or 4, or 5, etc…) would display (only) those specific listings.
I then created a text widget in the sidebar that has shortcode that looks like this (partial):
Accounting and CPA [connections template="names" category_in='52,83' order_by='department|SORT_DESC, organization|ASC'] Attorney and Legal [connections template="names" category_in='4,83' order_by='department|SORT_DESC, organization|ASC'] Automotive [connections template="names" category_in='5,83' order_by='department|SORT_DESC, organization|ASC']
The finished product looks like the attached image.
Not at all elegant, I know. :) But works for now.
The new widget doesn’t seem to allow me to have multiple separated categories like the screencap shows. (without creating tons of individual widget instances).
Does that make any sense? And if you have a better way to accomplish this I’m all ears.
