Since WP internally uses page ID/s, the redirects will work regardless of of the permalink settings you choose. So, no issue / anything to worry about there.

Yep, I’ll let you know how to make the necessary changes. I’m leaning towards using the template_redirect action. I think that the be easiest for you and I especially making changes.
