Well, that definitely looks right.

[connections category='X' enable_search='false' enable_category_select='false']

The number one reason shortcodes end up not working is because there is HTML tags or other stray text within the shortcode cause WordPress not to read it correctly. Take a look at this QuickTip and follow its advice to see if it resolves the issue.
