No Java, just a bit of client side JavaScript. Looking at the screen capture … it still appears that is is being rendered using compatibility view:

Is it possible, since the URL seems like it may be an intranet site, that IE is set via a corporate policy to set compatibility view for all sites within the intranet?

Can you open the page in IE11, hit F12, then hit Control+8? What does it say the Document mode is? it should say Edge (default).
