The search in the widget pack would be just like the search in the template you’re using. The difference is that is can be placed in the theme’s sidebars.

The category widget functions just like the post category widget you have in your sidebar currently. The difference would be that the categories listed would be those that are entered in Connections and when clicked would filter the entry list based on the category clicked.
