@ Jess
The back links are working correctly. They will resolve back to the page the directory was embedded on. In this case you have created multiple directories by putting them on different pages differentiated by category (or perhaps by entry ID).
For this type of setup to function you need to create a “common” page for all these instances to link to.
Create a new page, the name is not important but should be relevant. The page content should contain only the [connections] shortcode with no options set so all entries can be displayed. Take note of the page ID that WordPress has assigned the page. It can be found in the browser’s address bar.
Set this new page as the directory home page.
Edit each instance of the [connections] shortcode on the other pages and add the home_id shortcode option to each. Set the value to the new page ID.
Now, all profile links to each instance of Connections will resolve to the new page. when the back link is clicked it will take you back to the new page, not the page the user came from.
If you want the link to resolve to specific directory/page from which the user came from then the setup becomes a little more complex. After performing the above steps you would need to install this free addon for Connections. Click the green button to download and then install it like any other plugin. After it is installed and activated, edit each entry and select the page that the entry should link to.
Hope this helps!
